Wonder Kids

Wayne Wonder Based in Buckinghamshire in the U.K is one of the country's leading children's entertainers and winner of multiple awards across his field.

As a magician and children's entertainer I am constantly on the look out for new ideas, different takes on old ideas and practically anything I can add into my repertoire.  As a by product of this I come across or invent lots of ideas that for one reason or another I can't fit into my shows.  That doesn't mean that they are no good in fact many of them work great for ideas to try at home.  I only realised this after having my daughter and seeing how much she enjoyed them.  That's why I have created this resource, for families to visit take away what they want and try these things at home.  You have everything at your fingertips for great, easy and inexpensive ideas for your little ones at home.  Going out to new experiences and spending time together as a family is important if not crucial to a child's development but that doesn't mean you have to go out and spend lots of money every time, you can create amazing memories just by investing a little bit of time at home with these great ideas.

I would love to know what you think about Wonder Kids blog and how you get on with any of the ideas in fact if you post a picture of your family trying one of the activities from this blog o my Facebook Page I will send you a goodie bag filled with loads of great Wayne Wonder Prizes for FREE!

Mothers Day - Breakfast in Bed

Mothers Day Breakfast from Wonder Kids

One of the classic features of Mothers Day is serving them breakfast in bed.  Now I know there is a temptation to let the kids make breakfast and serve it to them which is very sweet and funny but I think they do deserve a really nice edible breakfast if you really only do it a handful of times every year.  I have come up with some great recipes below that are super tasty and with just a little supervision the kids can help you make these too.

Toasted Breakfast Cups

Preheat the oven to gas 6, 200°C, fan 180°C. Ask your little helper to grease 8 holes of a muffin tin with butter.

Push one slice of bread into each greased hole, moulding it to fit with your fingers (kids will love helping with this part!) – all four corners of the bread should be sticking up. Bake for 5 minutes, or until lightly toasted. Remove and leave to cool a little.

Get the kids to put one slice of ham inside each cup, smoothing it out to make a lining for the toast. Crack an egg into each one and season well – best if you do this bit. Return to the oven for 10 minutes, or until the whites are cooked but the yolk is still soft*. Remove from the oven and ask the kids to scatter over the chives. Serve immediately.

French Toast

I love French Toast on the odd occasion and I think it is one of those recipes that really surprises in the UK. Mum won't have this very often so give this a try.

  • 12 rashers streaky bacon
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 thick slices of bread (white or brown)
  • 75g (3oz) butter

Method

  1. Grill the bacon until crisp and keep warm. Lightly whisk three eggs, season (add the optional cinnamon and vanilla extract) and put in a shallow dish.
  2. Dip bread slices in the egg and press gently to help it absorb. Heat the butter in a pan and fry the bread for 2 mins on each side until golden brown.
  3. Cut each slice of bread into two triangles and top each with two slices of bacon and a good drizzle of maple syrup.
