Wonder Kids Blog

Wayne Wonder Based in Gloucestershire in the U.K is one of the country's leading children's entertainers and winner of multiple awards across his field.

As a magician and children's entertainer I am constantly on the look out for new ideas, different takes on old ideas and practically anything I can add into my repertoire.  As a by product of this I come across or invent lots of ideas that for one reason or another I can't fit into my shows.  That doesn't mean that they are no good in fact many of them work great for ideas to try at home.  I only realised this after having my daughter and seeing how much she enjoyed them.  That's why I have created this resource, for families to visit take away what they want and try these things at home.  You have everything at your fingertips for great, easy and inexpensive ideas for your little ones at home.  Going out to new experiences and spending time together as a family is important if not crucial to a child's development but that doesn't mean you have to go out and spend lots of money every time, you can create amazing memories just by investing a little bit of time at home with these great ideas.

Wayne Wonder's Kids Club

Support the Kids Club

Hello and Welcome to my Kids Club,  I started it in 2014 when my daughter was 4yrs old, I came to the realisation that I needed more easy, fun, creative and educational things to do at home.  I don't mind her using tech every now and again but I'm not one for her to be constantly on her iPad or glued to the TV.  I would much rather see her playing a game, getting outside or building something.

I live in the U.K where the weather is mostly grey and miserable, so being stuck indoors you either get creative or you spend a small fortune at indoor play centres.  I know which one I would rather choose.

So how does this Kids Club work?

It's all FREE! Yes straight from the start of this idea I knew I didn't want to charge for this, it does take a lot of my time up but my daughter loves it and I now get great feedback from other parents, restaurants, teachers and even other entertainers use some of the game ideas in their parties.  So I feel like this Kids Club is doing a really good thing.

Every Month I pick a theme to explore, now if you have any ideas for themes that I haven't done yet then just post them in the comments section below or get in touch through social media, I would love to hear from you.  Every week I post a new game/craft/idea sticking to the month's theme.

Make sure you explore the Kids Club, There are a few ways to do this

  1. Use the search bar at the top of the page to search for anything you like, this is great for searching themes like Christmas, Halloween etc
  2. To the right, at the top of the page there is a drop down menu organised by the different topics that I have covered so far.  In the past this dropdown menu was organised by month so you may see that on my older posts
  3. keep scrolling down and you'll find a grid of some of my most recent posts, thats a great place to start.

To get you started I have included below some of my favourite topics that I have covered remember there is so much more to explore and if you share a picture on my Facebook page of your family enjoying one of the activities then I'll send you a goodie bag full of Wayne Wonder Prizes.

It took me about a year to get around to doing a Ninja Turtle blog post but I'm a huge Ninja Turtle fan, have been since I was a kid.  there is photographic evidence of this in the post, just click the picture opposite to find out how to:

Captain America Civil War - Who's side are you on?

Support the Kids Club

It's a new month and a brand new theme.  I can't  believe it's taken well over a year to get some super hero's in the Kids Club.  So who's side are you on?  Let me know in the comments below.  It's been really weird for me watching these super hero films take off because I was much more of a DC guy growing up, I used to go to our local park and some of the older kids would have comics that we would sit and read, I just connected with the darker stories that DC tended to have.  I know Marvel have some dark stuff too but DC seemed to have more for me.  However I have to tip my magic hat to team Marvel and the universe they have created with the films it is absolutely brilliant, not perfect but still brilliant. If only Warner Bros. had the foresight to get their universe started with the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy. What could have been. I hope you don't mind but I am going to bend the theme a little this month, Im going to include all of the Avengers into the theme not just the Civil war film characters.  This is because whatever happens in this film will affect the next Avengers film.  Good you don't mind. Lets go!

Here's what you need to make this super easy and awesome Thor Hammer.  If you like this you may like to make really easy and cheap light sabres here.

  • Tissue Box full
  • Paper Towl Tube
  • Duct Tape
  • Kitchen Foil
  • Parcel paper or brown fable (sticky back plastic)

I started with a full tissue box, to lend weight to the hammer. I put my paper towel tube into the opening of the box, and began running duct tape around to secure it.

I tried to run it in straight lines to keep a “clean” hammer appearance. Once you have secured the tissue box to the tube, take the tin foil and ball it up, stuffing it into the opening of the tube. This gives your cardboard handle some stuffing to brace the heavy box (and tiny grips!)

Wrap duct tape around the rest of the tube, over the end, and finish covering the box. An extra layer will add support to both the “hammer” and the “handle”.

Once you are fully covered, take an 8×10 piece of brown paper, duct tape paper, or vinyl, and wrap around the center of the “handle”. I used vinyl for mine, since I always have it on hand.

And you’re done!! That’s all there is to it. Took me less than twenty minutes! That hammer is STILL hanging around today, almost six months later.

Have you seen this handsome chap? He goes by the name of Captain Calamity and this is a picture taken from his new and excellent YouTube channel.  It's all about fun for kids with arts and crafts, magic, storytelling, circus and loads more.  Click on the picture to go and have a look at his channel.  Make sure you subscribe to his channel (it's free) and you may see a certain Mr Wonder on there soon.
