Wonder Kids Blog

Wayne Wonder Based in Gloucestershire in the U.K is one of the country's leading children's entertainers and winner of multiple awards across his field.

As a magician and children's entertainer I am constantly on the look out for new ideas, different takes on old ideas and practically anything I can add into my repertoire.  As a by product of this I come across or invent lots of ideas that for one reason or another I can't fit into my shows.  That doesn't mean that they are no good in fact many of them work great for ideas to try at home.  I only realised this after having my daughter and seeing how much she enjoyed them.  That's why I have created this resource, for families to visit take away what they want and try these things at home.  You have everything at your fingertips for great, easy and inexpensive ideas for your little ones at home.  Going out to new experiences and spending time together as a family is important if not crucial to a child's development but that doesn't mean you have to go out and spend lots of money every time, you can create amazing memories just by investing a little bit of time at home with these great ideas.

Harry Potter - Magical Decorations

This week I have found five great decoration ideas for a harry potter themed party or maybe these will work just for a halloween party too. We have some more pictures from our time at the studio tour too.  This time we have just come out of the green screen area and are now learning more about the death eaters.  There is one scene recreated at the Malfoy's home with Voldemort killing a young female wizard on a large dinning table.  It's only recreated with mannequins but it's still a little creepy for very young children.  After this though we have both the burrough and Hagrid's hut which are both brilliant sets.  The burrough was a particular favourite of ours as there are elements that move on their own as if by magic, like the iron on the ironing board or a knife chopping carrots in the kitchen, we spent some time spotting all the moving bits at this set. From these great sets you move round into the ministry of magic sets which are stunning sets and very well made.  I'll finish off the last photo's in next week's post and I have left the best bits until last too. Before we crack on with some awesome decoration ideas, have you tried the new website for sorting your family into Hogwarts houses?  You answer a bunch of questions and then the sorting hat tells you which house you belong too.  We did it as a family, both my wife and daughter got Hufflepuff and I got Slytherin. You will need to set up a new account for each family member, give it a go here.

Harry Potter Decorations

Make floating candles by wrapping paper or kitchen paper towel around an led tea light which you find in most pound shops. Do not use real flame tea lights!

Give your house the possessed by Voldemort treatment by writing on your mirrors with red lipstick.

Hang envelopes to look like letters from Hogwarts.  Ideally you want good quality envelopes that look a little aged but any envelopes will work.  this also makes a great background for photo's too.

Get some rubber snakes from a toy shop and spray paint them white. this can then be stuck or hung up to look like the chamber of secrets toilet.

My favourite out of all the ideas here, use a balloon and some cheesecloth to make these awesome Dementors, then hang them form the ceiling.

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my blog and please do take a look at some of my older posts below or just use the search bar if you would like maybe some ninja turtles or something princess for your little ones to see what I have on here for you.
