Wonder Kids Blog

Wayne Wonder Based in Gloucestershire in the U.K is one of the country's leading children's entertainers and winner of multiple awards across his field.

As a magician and children's entertainer I am constantly on the look out for new ideas, different takes on old ideas and practically anything I can add into my repertoire.  As a by product of this I come across or invent lots of ideas that for one reason or another I can't fit into my shows.  That doesn't mean that they are no good in fact many of them work great for ideas to try at home.  I only realised this after having my daughter and seeing how much she enjoyed them.  That's why I have created this resource, for families to visit take away what they want and try these things at home.  You have everything at your fingertips for great, easy and inexpensive ideas for your little ones at home.  Going out to new experiences and spending time together as a family is important if not crucial to a child's development but that doesn't mean you have to go out and spend lots of money every time, you can create amazing memories just by investing a little bit of time at home with these great ideas.

Inside Out - Party Time

Support the Kids Club

Well it's been a crazy week, really busy with shows and so much prep work for my first theatre show "Wayne Wonder's Epic Adventure", which I love! on the downside my car broke down and is un-reparable, frowny face.  But I have now sorted out a new car so I will be back in full swing for this weekends bookings.  I had a really interesting booking come in yesterday from a local school.  They are running a well being week and as part of this week they will talk about the importance of laughter so they have asked me to come in and talk to the kids about laughing and to get them to laugh too.  That's not a problem for me.

This week I have searched the web and brought together all of the free Inside Out Party peripherals you need to make a truly awesome Inside Out party.  So make sure you use them, they are all free you just need to click on them and print them.

Party Invites

Start the party the right way with these Inside out invites, just click on the picture to print them off.  I also have my own Wayne Wonder invites for people booking me here.

Alphabet Banner

This is one of two different banners I have found for you.  You can use this to spell out the birthday child's name or just to say Happy Birthday or anything you like.  You will need to print out more than one of these to get all the letters you need.

Check out the gallery below for free print out party hats, 2ltr Fizzy drink bottle wrappers, small water bottle wrappers and chocolate bar wrappers. Go all out on your theming.

Decorative Banner

Here is the other banner I mentioned earlier, more of a decorative banner for this one. I would use some blue ribbon to string them all together or create a an art piece around the cake table by just sticking the individual pieces around the wall.

And finally some custom cupcake pieces that you can print out to make simple cupcakes (here's a cupcake recipe) look awesome and fit into the Inside Out theme.

Here's what the cup cakes could look like with these print outs and some coloured sprinkles to match each character. That's it for this week folks, come back next Tuesday lunch time and join us with a brand new theme for the month of May.  Your going to love it.

Inside Out - Fun Balls

Support the Kids Club

It's lunchtime on Tuesday and that means it's time for another fun craft from the kids Club.  Last week I announced my first ever colouring competition with your chance to win a FREE one hour Party Extravaganza! You can still enter the colouring competition here.

This week I have re-worked something I came across last year.  These balls are super easy to make and don't make too much mess but if you want to make them with the kids I would recommend doing them outside.  They are very inexpensive and I am currently using them to play some games in my shows.  I have found them to be very sturdy and I haven't had one break yet.

Lets get started, here is what you need:

  • Red, green, blue, yellow and purple ballons, you need 3 or more of each colour
  • Scissors
  • Flour
  • Bottle
  • Funnel
  • Black Sharpie

Slip the end of the balloon over the flour filled bottle and then let it untwist.  Turn your bottle upside down and empty the flour into the balloon. Then let the excess air out of the balloon very carefully and a little at a time (you do not want the flour to all come out too)!

Once you have all the air out of the balloon cut the neck of the balloon off.

Take a second balloon and cut the neck off it and place your first filled balloon in to it (hole first), then repeat until you have at least three balloons.  I did four layers.

You can now draw faces on the balls, yes you can just get the kids to draw the characters from Inside Out or you can get the kids to draw each others faces or draw a face to show how they are feeling at the moment?  You can now play all sorts of ball games with these.  I use them for ball and spoon races in my shows and because they are never perfectly spherical they tend to fall off a lot which makes the game harder and funnier.  Let me know how you get on with these and what games you play by telling me on Facebook.

Inside Out - Colouring Pages and Prizes

Support the Kids Club

This week in the Kids Club I have something I have never done before.  Obviously there have been a lot of changes to this blog this year.  It's now a weekly blog (used to be monthly). With the new style and layout of my posts I have not done any colouring pages.  So this week it changes with a great selection of colouring pages mostly from Inside Out (this month's theme).  I have included one Wayne Wonder colouring page too. Now this is where this gets really cool! I am giving away a One Hour Party Extravaganza for children aged 5+.  This can be a Birthday Party that you can use anytime in the next 12 months or maybe you are a community group and want to put on a show then get your children to take part in this competition.

How do you enter?

Really easily, just click on one of the picture's below and print it out.  Ask your child to colour it in.  They can colour it in any way they like using crayons, pencils, chalk, paint, felt tips anything they like.  Maybe even a mosaic using different coloured pieces of paper? It can be accurate to the film or completely crazy and abstract it's all up to the kids and I am really looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Take a picture of the final work of art and post it on my Facebook Page with the #WayneWonderColouringComp.   I will then pick a winner at the end of this month and provide you with a voucher worth at least £150.00 for my One Hour Party Extravaganza.  There are a few T's & C's to this competition so I have included them beneath the colouring pages.

Inside Out - Games

Support the Kids Club

This post is early this month, normally I post every Tuesday lunchtime but I'm going with the family to Legoland for the day tomorrow and I had the day off today as it's a bank holiday in the U.K so I had time to put this post together.  This month I have so many awesome Inside Out inspired ideas to share with you.  Lets start with week 1, I have two great free games for you.  Before we crack on please do take a second to check out my Facebook Page, over a thousand parents are already joining in.  You'll also find out about loads of public events I attend throughout the year.  It's a free service so go and make the most of it.

Inside Out Bingo

I have quite a collection of bingo games in the Kids Club now, most of them are designed to play along with whilst watching the related film.  This is more of a traditional bingo game. Inside Out Bingo includes all of your favorite characters from the Inside Out movie!! In the bingo set, there are eight bingo cards in different orders, so it's easy to print and use for your parties. It's fun for every age to play, and the calling cards include the names of the characters in case you don't know who they are. Just click on the image opposite to download the FREE bingo game printable. Once you have this follow on the game instructions below and have fun.

Game Instructions

1. Pick some kind of object to mark your squares or use a dry erase marker.

2. Give each player a Bingo card and markers (or put your own together with the blank set). Have each player put a marker over the free space.

3. Have one person choose a calling card and say it out loud. Each player will cover that item on their card with a marker. Once a player has 5 squares covered in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), they call out "BINGO!" and win the game!

Inside Out Free Board game

This is just awesome, I've played this with my daughter and it costs you next to nothing.  To play this emotions game, you’ll download my FREE Printable, print it off, then cut out the cards. I printed off 3 sets of cards. For the playing pieces, I purchased the the Mini Inside Out Figures at Toys “R” Us. You can use anything as counters to get around the board though.  The first time we played it we used some spare Loom Bands (I'm sure most of us have some of those still hanging around, check out my Loom Bands pack here).

You’ll move the pieces as the cards tell you to. Some tell you to move forward and some tell you to move back. When you land on a “memory” spot (the spots on the game board with a circle on them), you have to tell a memory of when you had that emotion. So, if you land on green, you would tell of a time you were Disgusted. Each color matches the emotions of a character from Inside Out. I’ve included some instructions in the free printable for reference. Just click on the image above to download and print your FREE board game.
