Wonder Kids Blog

Wayne Wonder Based in Gloucestershire in the U.K is one of the country's leading children's entertainers and winner of multiple awards across his field.

As a magician and children's entertainer I am constantly on the look out for new ideas, different takes on old ideas and practically anything I can add into my repertoire.  As a by product of this I come across or invent lots of ideas that for one reason or another I can't fit into my shows.  That doesn't mean that they are no good in fact many of them work great for ideas to try at home.  I only realised this after having my daughter and seeing how much she enjoyed them.  That's why I have created this resource, for families to visit take away what they want and try these things at home.  You have everything at your fingertips for great, easy and inexpensive ideas for your little ones at home.  Going out to new experiences and spending time together as a family is important if not crucial to a child's development but that doesn't mean you have to go out and spend lots of money every time, you can create amazing memories just by investing a little bit of time at home with these great ideas.

Paw Patrol - Party Ideas

Every time I pick a new theme, I am always very conscious about creating ideas for birthday parties.  My main job is as a magician and entertainer.  I perform at hundreds of birthdays parties every year so you will notice that almost all of the the ideas I post would work in one way or another at a kids birthday party.  Well this week we are looking at nothing but great ideas you can try at your kids birthday party for some Paw Patrol fun.  Lets start with the basics, first you should schedule a call from Chase or one of the other characters.  This is free to do on the Nick website here. Now lets go through some cool free printables to help theme your party, just click on them to download them. Scroll down for more great ideas.

Cake Toppers & Character Badges

Water Bottle Labels & Food Labels

Thank You Labels

Here is a great game that is super easy to play.  I like non elimination games for birthday parties because typically they are only with you for an hour or maybe two hours max.  There really isn't time to keep stopping the fun to explain about winning and losing.  Everyone wins, everyone's happy. So this game is a lot of fun. also here is another Paw patrol Game I've covered previously.

Paw Patrol Badge Chase

Print out the badges from the free template opposite, you'll need to print them on good quality card stock or on paper and stick them onto card.  You will need one set of badges per player, these badges then need to be hidden around a room or ideally outside in the garden.  Now every player gets a badges collection board and when they find a badge they need to stick it on the board.  I like to play this game as a team effort and everyone wins a prize but only when everyone has found all of there badges.  this way the kids help each other and swap badges if they find one they already have etc.

I can now offer a line of Party Box Kits, including this Paw Patrol Party Box.  This kit includes everything you need to throw an amazing Paw Patrol Party.  The concept is brilliant, have you ever tried to put on a small birthday party for less than 16 children? No, well the whole party changes, it's completely different to a whole class party, its much more intimate and the whole dynamic of the kids changes.  Click on the button below to see everything included in these kits

NEW for 2017!

Party Deco and Food

Ok so I love the idea of using dog food bowls to serve food in for a Paw Patrol Party.  Take a look at these great table lay out.  You can find out more about table lay outs here.

Now for food how about some Pup-Corn,  adding popcorn in a dog bowl will go down a treat.  Or long chewy sweets as dog chews. Take a look at the pic below for some more ideas.  One of my favourite ideas are the dog bone sandwiches.  I know from making my own daughters school lunches that changing the shape of a sandwich can make them massively more popular. You can just use a dog bone cookie cutter like the one I found below.

This cookie cutter is a bargain of a buy, how about trying these great marshmallow/rice crispy treats or bones on crackers and use the cutters to cut cheese and ham that the kids can then place on crackers.  Another great party food item that kids love is to build their own food so this is like a nice snack and playtime all rolled into one. The ideas are endless, plus once the party is over you have something that you can then use for a fun surprise in the school lunch box too.

I really hope all of these ideas are helpful for you.  I think Paw Patrol is a great theme for birthday parties, You have almost everything here, party supplies and decorations, Party food ideas and finally check out these cake designs. Im not a baker, I mean I love to cook but baking is like magic to me.  I love how clever the bone cake is, to me it looks like it should be quite simple but the design is very clever.  The tier cake looks amazing and to me that is one for the pro bakers.

Paw Patrol - Pawper Crafts

Welcome back to our December Paw Patrol fun.  Im actually writing this in November because Im performing nearly everyday in December and just don't have the time to write a new blog post every week.  If you're new here then please do watch the video below to see what it is that I do for a living.

Lets kick this week off with a free print out of a Paw Patrol Badge.  The kids can colour this in and make their own Paw Patrol badges.  This is a great thing to have set up for a birthday party as the kids arrive.  This is just a quick, simple activity that kids love but scroll down for a really cool paper craft you can try at home.

Paw Patrol Look Out Tower

Turn a paper towel roll into the PAW Patrol Look-Out Tower for hours of creative play with the pups!

What You’ll Need

Look-Out Tower theater templates (print below)
Scissors
Glue
Paper towel roll
Cereal box

How to Make

Step One: Print the PAW Patrol Puppet Theater templates on card stock or heavy weight paper, and cut out all the pieces.

Step Two: Create the base of the tower by folding along the solid lines until the shape is formed. Affix with glue.

Step Three: Wrap the tower template around the paper towel roll. Place the paper towel roll into the base created in Step 2.

Step Four: Attach the tower top to the roll by sliding paper towel roll into the slits created into the template.

Step Five: Break apart a cereal box and glue the background templates to the cereal box.

Step Six: Fold the puppet template in half, fold up along the solid lines at the base of the template. Glue in the center so the puppet will be double-sided. Do not glue the base. Repeat this step to create all other puppets.

Step Seven: Place the tower in front of the background and put on a show with the PAW Patrol pups!

Paw Patrol - Pup Pup Boogie

Hello, it's a new month and we have a brand new theme to explore.  Paw Patrol has just been going from strength to strength. So over the next 4 weeks I will be sharing loads of crafts, games, party ideas and loads more fun to be had with Paw Patrol.

Pup Pup Boogie

This is a great game.  I originally found this online but the game rules were not great so I've modified them to make them better. Lets start with what you need -

  • Boogie Game Free Templates below
  • Heavy card Stock or cereal box
  • Scissors
  • Drinking Straw
  • Split Pin
  • Dice
  • Glue (optional)

Step 1

Print the Pup Pup Boogie board onto card stock or paper.  If using paper, glue it onto cereal box and cut it out.

Step 2

Cut out the spinner, punch a hole in the middle of the board with the point of the scissors.  This needs to be large enough to fit a drinking straw.  Snip the drinking straw so that it fits inside the hole.  Attach the arrow spinner to the game with the split pin.  Leaving room for the spinner to move freely.

Step 3

Get some music on and play the game.  Here is Paw Patrol on iTunes for some great music. I couldn't find any official music from Nick, come on guys people will pay for the music, make it available.

Playing the Game

Pick someone to go first, this could be the youngest, eldest, birthday child, or whoever rolls the highest number on the dice.  The first player spins the Boogie board and has to dance to the music as it states on the boogie board.  The next player now has to roll a 6 before they can spin the boogie board.  The catch here is that the person dancing has to keep dancing until the next player rolls a 6.  you can play this till infinity or until everyone has had a turn dancing.  For a more intense game you can say that we have until the end of the song.  If you use this version make sure you pick a song thats around 3 minutes long.  Maybe Who Let The Dogs Out by the Bah Ha Men. This is a non elimination game and everyone could win a small prize at the end of it for doing great dancing. loads of fun.
